I guess she has been rolling down these streets for months now to achieve such a tight roll. I wonder if they ever petrify?
I have lived in Harlem for 10 years and although we may have soul food, amazing architecture and some great gospel music, we have something no other neighborhood in Manhattan has- Tumble Weave. It can be found rolling down sidewalks, clogging up drains and skeeting down the subway stairs. No matter how bad your day is, when a tumble weave twirls by with some glitter, old leaves or an eyelash thrown in, it's simply un-be-weavably amusing.

Park it, Gurl!
My friend Laura Kennett found this little road rager on her weekend visit to Harlem.
Under a Vespa at that! She's flossy.
From a distance it looks like she blew out of the tire.

President's Day Tumble
I found her taking the day off from the salon on Frederick Douglas Boulevard and 121st Street.
A bundle of joy!

Weave Mail, from CNN!
I had a feeling it wouldn't take long for my peeps in the ATL to send me some tumbles.
Here is one from a darling who works at CNN:
Hi Cator! I just had to share a pic of some ATL Tumble Weave I stumbled upon this past weekend
Wow! Thanks Lisa. Clearly this one had one hell of a shopping experience at Club Lenox.

Where it all begins
This is the spot that is responsible for most of the tumble's around my block.
See how the door is propped open? Those little rascal's just twirl out of there and get into all sorts of mischief!
Keep 'em coming Grace!

New Weave Mail
Michelle Harper just sent in this loverly picture.
Here is how she described it:
A weave with sperminated napkin/tissues and a handbag? Oh lordy!
PS: This one is from the lower east side on a Sunday morning where you can also find many exotic specimens of Tumble Weave after the bridge and tunnel crowd have thrown up all over the neighborhood and done god knows what else Friday and Saturday night.
Thanks Darlink!

Botswana Weave
When I was on Nyoga Island in Botswana last January we took a makoro ride over to a local village.
I couldn't believe my eyes this far away from Harlem.
A little wig-wam!

My first piece of weave mail
My friends know that I have an obsession with tumble weave so Shay from Brooklyn sent this to me last summer. I think she is hanging from a parking lot fence.
I love the colors, sun light and textures of hard wire and soft fluffy weave.
Lets call it 'wire and weave'
Thanks Shay!
Keep em coming!

Weave From the Web
I found this piece of road weave kill when I was searching to see if there were any other tumble weave blogs. Apparently this used to be on a tumble weave site but it no longer exists.
Lucky me!

Baby Diaper Tumble Weave
I found this number during the heat wave last summer (or heat weave as my friend liked to joke). I'm not sure if this is weave or a full wig but the diaper stuck to it really takes it to another level.
West Coast Weave
I found this on my travels to San Francisco. She was hanging out in the Mission.
Later that night I saw that same weave escape from a trash can and hang on to a ladies heel as she shimmied to a bar. I yelled out, "Stop! You have a tumble weave on your heel!"
She stopped, looked down and was scared/confused/grossed out. Then she started laughing hysterically.
I wish I wasn't so drunk or I would of video tapped it.
